What Causes Burning Pain And Redness In The Hands And Feet?

default
Posted on Tue, 10 Jan 2017
Question: My Hands and feet are burining and bright red. My hands are especially sensitive to anything warm or hot. I just had blood work done and my liver enzymes ast and alt are extremely high but my AIC is within normal range. It is painful to walk. This has been going on for about a week. A year ago my liver enzymes were fine and six months prior to that they were high.AST is 64 and ALT is 79.

What could be causing this pain and redness, somewhat swollen hands and feet.?

Brief Answer:
May be related to medications....

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

I went through details provided here as well as in your other query. I concur with the other doctor's suggestion. Yes lipitor can alter liver enzymes - AST and ALT. Liver enzymes need to be monitored further and subsequently we can decide fate of lipitor.

In addition, yes thyroid hormone need to be tested. In addition, I also feel vitamin B12 level should be tested. Burning pain and redness may also be related to thyroid hormone disorder as well as vitamin deficiencies.

I would also consider talking about starting pregabalin if liver enzymes are stable.

Hope this helps. Let me know if you need clarifications.

Regards
