Posted on Tue, 23 Jun 2015
Question: I just noticed my 18month old has a white head pimple on the hold of her clitoris. She had been complaining of some discomfort when I changed her diaper which prompted me to take a thorough look. Im concerned since I have HSV 1 on my genitals. I haven't had an outbreak in forever but we did share s bath maybe 2 weeks ago. What could it be?

none of the above for me or my daughter. I just wanted to know if a white head pimple on the clitoris of a toddler is normal or what it could possibly be? Can HVS 1 be spread through bath water while in remission? Like I mentioned before I haven't had any outbreak for a long time and still have not had an outbreak to date. This pimple seems to have gone down a bit today.

Brief Answer:
Unlikely to be HSV

Detailed Answer:
Hello

Its unlikely for HSV to spread via water. There are sebaceous gland that get blocked and possibly form a cyst. Skin contains glands that secrete an oily substance. When one of these glands gets blocked, you can get something like you describe - a 'pimple' that will pop when you squeeze it. These can clear up by itself or if persists for a longer time then needs medical attention. I would suggest you to wait & observe. If it persists after a week then in that case i would suggest you to visit hospital & get an appointment for a "Consultant Dermatologist" or "Consultant Pediatrician" for examination & further workup.

Hope I have answered your query. If you have any further questions I will be happy to help if not then don't forget to close the discussion and rate it.
Wishing you good health !!
