Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXXXXX
Thanks for posting the query in HealthcareMagic,

From the description that you have provided, you seem to be having a localized hematoma over the right leg, which has appeared as a black and blue lump.

It would be better if you could share me a picture of the affected area so that I can get a look at it and then suggest further management accordingly.

Also share me a few details on the following:

- how long before has this happened?
- any noticable change in size or color of the hematoma?
- any restriction of movements of the limb affected?
- any pain on touch, swelling of the limb, external wounds?

If there is any restriction of movements or increase in size of the hematoma, I would suggest it better to take an Xray of the right leg, inorder to rule out any underlying fractures and also a scan may be suggested to look for the extend of bleed.

Meanwhile, I would suggest you to keep the limb affected always elevated, give ample amount of rest, apply ice packs over the area.

Kindly revert back with your answers,

Regards

Brief Answer:
Superficial muscular hematoma

Detailed Answer:
Hi again,
Thanks for writing back,

From the description you have provided, it looks like a surface muscular hematoma, and given the signs, it shows it is regressing.

It is also good to know that you did not suffer any fractures.

At this point, I would only suggest you to do precautionary steps as I have already mentioned:

- Rest: complete rest to the involved leg during the initial 24- 48 hours is needed, so as to allow easier clotting of blood.

- Ice pack: helps in
* vasoconstriction
* pain relief
* reduction in swelling
* maintains normal muscle contracture.

- Compression: apply a crepe bandage over the area, which helps in preventing the recurrence of swelling over the area.

- Elevation: Helps in reducing the blood pressure and easy backflow of blood from the area.

- Also you can consider taking any medicines for pain relief if needed.

The hematoma is sure to resolve in a couple of weeks time. As such, there is nothing to be worried, and will resolve in time.

I hope I have answered to your query,

Regards
