Brief Answer:
This is normal

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

of course it's normal. This area is full of blood vessels and injuries may cause excessive bleeding or hematoma. So tenderness and bruising is expected. Signs of a bad hit may include:
- loss of consciousness and perhaps also no memory of the incident
- nausea and vomiting
- neurological signs like weakness or paralysis etc
- unusual sleepiness

Any of the above is an indication for an urgent radiological investigation of the brain with computed tomography (CT).

I hope I've helped!

Brief Answer:
48 hours are needed to safely exclude serious injury

Detailed Answer:
Hi again,

any of the aforementioned signs during the 48 hours that follow the accident is a reason for emergency examination by a neurosurgeon. When there is increased suspicion of a serious injury, waking the patient every 1-2 hours to check whether everything is OK is advised at least for the next 24 hours and sometimes for the next 48 hours.

Feeling pain or discomfort is normal. Having any of the serious signs is not.

Kind Regards!

Brief Answer:
You're welcome

Detailed Answer:
You're welcome.
If you've got someone at home, then ask him/her to keep an eye on you and perhaps wake you up every 2 hours or so to check whether you're normal or not. Being able to wake and answer simple questions (where are you? etc) correctly indicates no serious injury.
