Brief Answer:
You need further evaluation.

Detailed Answer:

Hello,

Firstly, your present symptoms are not likely to be related to the intake of the emergency contraceptive pill earlier. Withdrawal bleeding is noticed 3-7 days after the pill intake. Therefore, this is unlikely to be withdrawal bleeding.

Secondly, since the discharge is observed after the recent intercourse, infection and trauma should be excluded. I would ask you to see a specialist for proper clinical evaluation, get urinalysis and sonogram of the pelvis if possible. Further management can be planned accordingly.

Antispasmodic medication is helpful to relieve the pain. Please maintain proper genital hygiene and adequate hydration.

Hope I have clarified your query. Please feel free to contact for further information. I will be happy to help.

Today I noticed the discharge was also bloody. My last period began March 25th, so could this be my cycle changing?

Brief Answer:
Needs observation.

Detailed Answer:

Hi,

You need to observe for a couple of days to see if it is a period. If it is so, you may have attained an early cycle.

However, I do not think so. There is a delay in the next natural period by a week or two when the emergency contraceptive pill is used.

I think this discharge associated with pain is likely to be due to infection or traumatic urethritis/cystitis. Please get an evaluation properly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Brief Answer:
It need not be a sexually transmitted one.

Detailed Answer:

Hello,

Sometimes, rough intercourse, though protected, can cause trauma. As a consequence, infection or inflammation may set in.

As the female urethra is short and superficial, it is vulnerable to trauma. This can also show as brownish or fresh discharge.

In the current scenario, the source of the discharge should be located. If it is from the vagina, it can be due to several causes like an unhealthy cervix, polyps of the cervix or uterus, hormone imbalance due to the pill or an ovarian cause like cyst etc. or pelvic inflammation.

A clinical evaluation is the best way to clarify.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Wish you good health.
