Posted on Wed, 29 Jun 2016
Question: I have a sister with severe COPD. She recently recieved an injection of Prolia to help with her bones but since receiving the injection, she has been so breathless - so much more than before. She has been on oxygen daily.
Could this be as a result of the injection. We are desperate as she is so breathless. How long will the effect of this injection last,
does it gradually wear off or will it peak.

Brief Answer:
I don't think this drug have caused severe breathlessness.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for your question on Healthcare Magic.
I can understand your concern.
Prolia is having denosumab. It is monoclonal antibody.
It is used for osteoporosis.
It is not having any side effect of worsening breathlessness.
So I don't think her recent worsening of breathlessness is due to this injection.
Please let me know
1. Is she having fever?
2. Is she having coughing?
Please reply me answers of above asked questions, so that I can guide you better. I will be happy to help you further. Wishing good health to your sister. Thanks.
