Question: What causes brain fog? My BS does go up after a meal but the fog is all day some days. I do have allergies. I had an night that my BP went up to 170/66 and blood vessels were breaking in my eyes. I don't have High BP but was under a lot of stress at the time. The brain fog seems to be worst often all day.

Brief Answer:
Check your levothyroxine dose

Detailed Answer:
Dear Ms, there are many causes of brain fog that includes
1) if your levothyroxine medication dose needs adjustement . as imbalance of the thyroid hormone can lead to brain fog
2) lack of sleep, only one bad sleep night can affect memory, concentration, coordination and mood. so you need to make sure that you get enough sleep daily
3) stress makes you at risk for dementia and Alzheimer's disease . you need to do meditation or some relaxing excersice
4) bad diet:
too much sugar
low fat diet due to difficiency in essential fatty acids that affect brain function , you should add olive oil to your diet
food allergies, if there is one type of food that is linked with your symptoms of brain fog then you should avoid it
food additives in processed food
aspartame
so you need to reduce your load of sugar and additives and eat healthy balanced diet of vegetables, fruits, eggs, fish , meat and nuts
5) vitamin b12 difficiency, you should take an extra supplement of vitamin b 12 in addition to your multivitamin
6) physical inactivity , lead to decrease endorphins and oxygen supply to brain. so you need to start increasing your daily activity

thanks, I have noticed a pain in my lower and sometime middle of my left side now. I have an ovarian cyst, see history. I had endometriosis when I was late 40's and the pain is in the same spot. I do have IBS but the pain is lower than that. this pain comes when I lay down. I haven't had a ultrasound for awhile. Maybe I need to get one

Brief Answer:
Ovarian cyst or diverticulitis

Detailed Answer:
Dear Ms, considering your history there are 2 possibilities.
the first is that you are having a recurrence of ovarian cyst which may be complicated by chocolate cyst or inflamed cyst.
the second is that your IBD is complicated by diverticulitis which is inflammation of small pouches found within the colon.
to differentiate between the two you need to perform an ultrasound abdomen and pelvis.
i hope I answered your question.
