What Causes Blurry Vision, Frequent Urination And Itchy Spot On Groin?

default
Posted on Wed, 10 Dec 2014
Question: Hi. I have the following symptoms but have not tested positive for any STD's.

What could this be:

- blurry vision
- have to pee a lot
- just now I got an itchy rash/spot on my groin area
- my ass feels strange like there is something alive or an infection of some sort. It gets a little red sometimes. But no visual signs of spots there.

I have been to an STD clinic twice and also to my doctor who do not believe I got an STD. I had a massage but not sex. Although the girl did sit on top of me while she was naked. (but not have sex). So I felt this may lead to a possible STD.

I also wanted to say that I tested negative for Clamydia.

Sometimes I have a tingling on the top of my penis and I pee a lot.

My std clinic nurse could not determine any STD which has these symptoms and also causes blurry vision.

What should I do? This is unbearable and I cannot find answers.

Brief Answer:
Strongly suspecting a UTI sir

Detailed Answer:
Hello sir and welcome.

Thank you for writing to us.

I have gone through your query with diligence and would like you to know that I am here to help. Ruling out STDs was indeed wise, but now that it has been ruled out your diagnosis is quite clear, i.e. a urinary tract infection (UTI). A urine analysis will confirm this for us, I am sure.

Let me list the symptoms of a UTI for your reference sir:

-Frequent urination
-Urge or need to pass urine, but hardly any urine being passed
-Burning urination
-Itching in the groin region
-Discomfort in and around the genitalia
-Fever (not always)
-Chills (not always)
-Symptoms of dehydration due to frequent urination (e.g. dry lips, blurry vision, headaches, etc.)
-Penile discharge (not always)
and a few others.

As you can see from the above listed symptoms sir, all your symptoms match the presentation of a UTI. I would recommend the following investigations to be conducted at any clinic or hospital that has a laboratory:

-Urine analysis
-Urine culture and sensitivity test

Once the above mentioned tests confirm the diagnosis, your doctor will choose to initiate antibiotic therapy which will most certainly take care of the infection. In the meantime, please try your best to follow the following suggestions:

-Drink plenty of water
-Drink cranberry juice as tolerated (and if available)
-Mix 1 tbsp of baking soda in a glass of water and have 2-3 times a day
-Maintain good personal hygiene (including changing of inner wear as often as possible)
-Avoid sexual contact in all forms (including masturbation)
-Keep your genitalia clean and dry (bacteria multiplies in a moist environment)

I hope I have explained things in a manner best understood by you sir. Please do not hesitate to write back to me for any further clarifications, I would be more than happy to help you.

Best wishes sir.

hello Dr. XXXXXXX

Thank you for responding so fast.

I wanted to query if it is still possible to be an UTI even if I also now have an itchy spot on my groin? This is the 2nd time it has occured in the past few months. Also is a UTI continuous or 'comes and goes' as my urinating often also 'comes and goes'. It is not always. But my blurry vision is more often. My itchy ass is also more often.

I have included a report as a picture of the spot.

I booked a UTI test already with my doctor later this week.

Does herpes or genital warts also cause these same symptoms? This is what I am more worried about. However I will be glad if I have only a curable UTI.

Thank you

Brief Answer:
All queries addressed sir

Detailed Answer:
Hello once again sir.

I would be more than happy to respond to each of your queries in an orderly manner.

1. If it is just an itchy region, then yes this can still be a UTI. But if at all, you have itchy blisters or boils then this could be related to an STD

2. UTIs can be recurrent if not treated well or if the stimulus (like for example, in some people with kidney stones UTIs keep coming and going). So the answer to your question is yes, a UTI can come and go

3. Unfortunately sir, the image is unclear and I cannot really visualise the spot very well

4. Yes, herpes or genital warts can also cause the same symptoms but these are not the only symptoms seen with conditions like herpes. The main symptom with a condition like herpes or genital warts would be the genital warts or blisters themselves, along with the other symptoms of a UTI. So with just the current symptoms you have listed, there is a doubt for this to be an STD

I also hope you have a simple uncomplicated UTI which will get treated at the earliest. I am also happy to hear that you have already scheduled an appointment with your doctor to get tested for the UTI. Please do not hesitate to write to me about any queries on the way sir.

Best of luck and best wishes sir.

Dear Dr. XXXXXXX

following our previous correspondence I now upload some new photos. I hope these are clearer.

It is 3 pics of the same spot. Do you believe this can be an STD or just a normal spot. Considering my other symptoms?

Thank you

Brief Answer:
Unlikely sir

Detailed Answer:
Hello once again sir.

I have gone through the attached images and doubt this could be related to an STD. It appears from the picture that you have recently shaved the region, if this is true, that would explain a lot. Shaving or friction caused to a particular region where hair grows can cause irritation to hair follicles causing inflammation and at times even infection of the hair follicles; that in turn can result in a presentation similar to the one in the picture. Try applying warm compresses to the affected region, take lukewarm showers 2-3 times a day, wear clean and dry inner wear or avoid it for a while and try taking sitz baths with epsom salt (if it is available).

But I would either way recommend a physical examination and ruling out other conditions if your presentation does not seem to be improving with the above mentioned advise.

I hope you find my response helpful sir. Please feel free to write to me anytime, about anything. I am always here to help.

Best wishes.

hello again

Today I have more of the same spots. I have uploaded new pics. Do you think these look like an STD?

Or I get dermatitis?

thank you

Brief Answer:
Still mostly in accordance with folliculitis

Detailed Answer:
Hello once again sir.

The latest images still do not seem related to any specific STD, and even in the latest images the regions affected seem like they all lie within the area you have shaved. This again is in accordance with my previous theory related to follicle irritation.

I hope this makes things more clear to you sir. Please do consider following all my suggestions from my previous response. Wishing you a speedy and safe recovery.

Best wishes.

Dear Dr XXXXXXX

Unfortunately I forgot to mention....I shaved that region to be able to show the spots clearer in the photos. So they cannot be as a consequence of shaving the area.

I just wanted to know if it is herpes or genital warts or just normal spots.

Either way I will visit a dermatologist this week and the UTI test too. As my own doctor does not know for sure but does not believe it is an STD.

Thanks again

Brief Answer:
Thanks for that information sir, still not STD related

Detailed Answer:
Hello sir.

Oh thank you so much for that information. I would first like to urge you to completely avoid shaving the region, or doing anything that can irritate the area.

But I still do not believe that the particular images could be due to an STD. Please continue with my suggestions and please do keep me informed about the results of the urine analysis and what your doctor says after a physical examination which would be the most accurate examination.

I hope you find my response helpful sir. Please do not hesitate to keep in touch with me and keep me updated.

Best wishes sir.
