What Causes Bluish Bruise On The Tip Of The Penis?

Posted on Wed, 30 Aug 2017
Question: Last night during sex with my wife I felt a snap in my penis. We continued but this morning I woke up to a bruised, black and blue penis. It is swollen but I have no problem urinating and some discomfort but not very painful. It looks like some blood vessels broke. Should I be concerned or wait it out?

Brief Answer:
No need to be concerned

Detailed Answer:
Hi and welcome.

Yes this is probably preputial hematoma due to broken subcutaneous vein and this is self limiting issue. It is important that there is normal urine flow and that you can feel tip of the penis. Also, you should avoid masturbation and sexual intercourse till hematoma or swelling persist. It should pill back within several days. if pain worsens or new symptoms occur, you should see urologist.

Wish you good health.
Regards
