What Causes Blood In Urine?

default
Posted on Fri, 26 Dec 2014
Question: I have a question about seeing blood in my urine. Recently, after my boyfriend and I have had sex, I've seen a pink tint on the toliet tissue. But this morning, there was a pink tint in my urine and it was on the toliet paper as well. (But we didn't have intercourse last night.) I'm on birth control and I don't expect my period for another 4 days. What could be happening?

Brief Answer:
Could be due to dry rough sex.

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for your query, based on the facts that you have posted it appears that you have a sex which was followed by passing a slight pink urine.

In absence of any urinary symptoms like pain, burning etc the cause of blood in urine may be due to dry rough vigorous sexual intercourse.

Please get routine Urine examination and Urine culture done to confirm an infection for which antibiotics will be needed. After getting tested, if the test shows just blood in urine, broad spectrum antibiotics like Cefexine along with urinary antiseptic like Nitrofurantoin twice daily and urine alkaliser thrice daily can be taken prophylactically. Get the prescription of medicines from your family Physician.

Ensure to drink more water to keep your urine dilute

Ensure to avoid sexual encounters till it gets cured completely

Hope I have answered your query, please feel free to ask if you have more questions, I shall be happy to help you
Thanks and Regards.

Just for clarification --you believe this could be happening due to dry, rough sex, yes?
Is there any way, that along with good diet, rest, lots of water that it can heal on it's own? How worried should I be? (Because right now, I'm very worried since I don't usually have any health issues/problems.)

I have one last follow-up question.
So since you answered my last question --I now see a very small amount of pinkish-red blood in my pantyliner. But a lot less of the pinkish blood in my urine.

Like I said in my previous letter, my period isn't supposed to start for another few days (when my inactive pills start.)

Could this be breakthrough blood? (I've only been back on my birth control for 2 months)--or could having sex have made my period come early?

Brief Answer:
It is unlikely to be menstrual period.

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for follow up.
Since it is just a spotting and slight blood It is unlikely to be menstrual period ,It seems to be due to dry ,rough intercourse .Wait for another 4-5 days for your expected period to come .

As such it is nothing serious to be worried about.
Thanks and Regards.
