What Causes Blood Clots In The Lungs While Having Severe Bronchial Infection?

default
Posted on Fri, 3 Feb 2017
Question: I had been over a severe bronchial infection and flew from XXXXXXX Az. to XXXXXXX Co. I told my Dr. I was making the trip. Though I was covered. A couple of days after Christmas I couldn't sleep. I was coughing, used the nebulizer, eventually I couldn't breathe. I crawled to my daughter's room. She took me to an ER. They attended to me, took blood, gave fluiids, oxygen etc. Blood work returned and I was given a hepren(spellng) injection. I was told that my blood was clotting and my oxygen level was at 70. I was taken to U of XXXXXXX MC. Ihave not received any records as of yet. I have to see my Dr. but no appointments until next Tues. I feel somewhat better but I feel tired. Can you give me your opinion?

Brief Answer:
It could be pulmonary thromboembolism.

Detailed Answer:
Hello Dear,

Thanks for posting your query on HCM.

From your description it seems your doctors are suspecting pulmonary thromboembolism in your case. In this condition there are blood clots in the lungs. You need to undergo a complete medical work up first to establish the diagnosis and also to find out the cause or sourse of embolism. This will involve extensive work up.You may have to undergo a CT angio or pulmonary angiography beside other investigations. Please keep your doctor's appointment and follow his advice.

Hope this answers your query.

Take care.
