What Causes Blackness, Swelling And Pain Around Removed Wart Area Through Cryotherapy?

default
Posted on Thu, 27 Aug 2015
Question: I had cryotherapy done on my penis today to remove a wart and now there is black swelling around where the wart is and it really hurts. I've read that it will heal eventually but can I take a bath in the state it's in right now or will that aggravate it more? What about bathing in salts? Will that help or hurt it? And it will eventually return to normal, right?

Brief Answer:
cryotherapy kills tissue

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for contacting HCM with your health care concerns

You had cryotherapy today for warts and the area that was treated is now black and painful. This is to be expected and normal. The black color is from bleeding under the skin after the cryotherapy killed the wart. The pain will last a few days but less each day. Eventually the wart will fall off and you will have a scab for about a week or two. This will all heal and you will be back to normal

Using a regular bath is OK but bath salts may actually increase the pain and prolong the healing. SO I do not recommend using any bath salts at this time.
