What Causes Black Eye And Mild Headache Post Head Injury?

default
Posted on Fri, 9 Oct 2015
Question: I fell off my bike and hit the upper right side of my head...purple/blue black I, scraped temple to cheek. It's real sore on bone on right corner of eye but only badly discolored around eye by sinuses. Happened early Wednesday morning and I was spitting up some blood I think from a busted capillary somewhere around eye. Have been sleeping since then with head elevated and it seemed like there was only dried blood spitting out today with a little fresh until I just slept on my left side for a couple hours now a little fresh blood again. Garggling with warm salt water. Want to make sure there isn't a possibility of internal head bleeding. And if it's better to take asprin or Motrin, took Motrin before this recent nap. Other than that a mild not real severe headache better when I lay upright still on my back. Thanks for any advice, I really can't afford the money to go to a doctor and am having to miss work.
I just spoke to a doctor friend and s
he says I should be fine unless symptoms persist. Asking for a refund, thanks anyway.

Brief Answer:
Don't take aspirin/observe.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for being on healthcaremagic.com.
I am Dr.Ajay Panwar,a neurologist,here to answer your query.

In the present scenario,I suggest you not to take aspirin because aspirin is an antiplatelet drug and it promotes bleeding. It should be withheld in any case of bleeding.Motrin, however can be taken if you have pain.

Further,Did you have any impairment of consciousness after the head injury? If not, please keep observing while continuing to do saline water gargles and applying neosporin locally.
I hope to see you improve soon.

If you have any further questions,I shall be glad to have you in follow-up.

Regards
Dr.Ajay Panwar,
