What Causes Back Pain In Condition Like Diverticulitis?

default
Posted on Fri, 20 Mar 2015
Question: I'm having lower back pain on the left side. I had a colonoscopy 3 days ago. I have diverticulitis. The doctor said that there were no polyps and that I wouldn't need another colonoscopy for 10 years. I believe the back pain started yesterday. I have been taking Naproxen which helps but the pain comes back. Could I have a kidney infection? No fever so far. Should I be drinking lots of water or cranberry juice? I've had issues with sciatica but physical therapy has really helped so I don't think it's that unless the colonoscopy stirred up something. What do you think? The pain is sort of a dull ache or pressure. It's steady not intermittent.

Brief Answer:
Likely to be a muscle pain.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.
The steady dull aching pain that you have is less likely to be due to a renal infection. It is usually associated with painful micturition and frequency of urination.
If your colonoscopy was normal then it is not likely to disturb anything in the colon. It is more likely to be a muscle related pain. Doing a hot compress and taking oral muscle relaxants can help you.
I hope this answers your query.
