What Causes Ankle Swelling While On Adderall?
Question: Hi. I am prescribed 75 mg of adderall it daily. Now on it for 7 months. Last few days I noticed ankle swelling that doesnt seem to leave. Water or not raised feet or not it simply stays this way. Does adderall cause this and is this dangerous in your opinion and I have no heart conditions or history. I do take Cymbalta 30 mg daily too.

Yes the pedal edema may be the side effect of adderall as well as cymbalta. If the conventional measures (raising legs ) are in effective it is good idea to explore other causes of pedal edema.
If you have not gone routine testing in last six months it is advisable to do following things to rule out other conditions that may be responsible for ankle swelling.
The advised test are
1. ECG
2. Thyroid function test (T3 T4 TSH)
4. Blood urea
5. Serum creatinine
6. Live function test
7. Serum protein
8. Urine microscopic examination
9. Peripheral blood smear (for filariasis)
Once you get these reports write back to me. Seriousness of the condition can be determined once we know the cause. Before that it is advisable to increase the sodium diet and practice prolonged foot end elevation.

Only changes in last several years is adderall. Blood work cane back great in XXXXXXX 201 4

If you have already got your blood report in January than there is no need to do completely again but you are advised to check the thyroid profile.
Other than this lower down the dose of adderall to previous level and see the changes. You are also advised to same with cymbalta dosage if there is recent change in dose of cymbalta.

My ankles are still fairly swollen and my right calf is a little more so than the left but they both have this little bumpy situation in the same spot on both sides

I have observed both of the pictures which shows edema as well as patchy erythema. Presence of erythema is suggestive of some skin pathology or infective pathology. It does not suggest swelling caused by Adderal.
I suggest you to see your doctor as soon as possible to explore the cause of erythema and edema. I hope with physical examination and laboratory examination the true pathology will be revealed.
