What Causes Abdominal Pain With Fever?

Question: My 3yr old has not been eating great the last few days had a fever during the week & although sleeping a little at night is wriggling & groaning with stomach pain.. she seams tired & sleepy a lot & today has passed a maroon stool & would not drink much.. please help!

Brief Answer: She need proper clinical exam & investigations. Detailed Answer: Hello XXXX Thanks for writing to HCM Pain abdomen and fever may be due to many reasons. She need to be examined by a surgeon. It may be due to intestinal infection,appendicitis,worms etc. It is important to know about the site of pain. She need proper clinical examination and investigations. Investigations include routine hemogram,Ultrasound of abdomen,Stool(routine and microscopic)examination,urine RE/ME.Further investigations can be done if needed. Ultrasound of abdomen is very important in excluding various causes. Empirically you can give antibiotics containing ofloxacin and ornidazole twice daily for five days and paracetamol SOS. Proper treatment depend upon clinical examination and investigation reports. You should consult your doctor immediately. Get well soon. Hope I have answered your question.
