What Causes Abdominal Pain And Nausea After Taking Bath In Chlorine Water?

default
Posted on Mon, 29 Aug 2016
Question: Hi there,
I went in my boyfriend's pool and hot tub last night. They use chlorine to treat it. Not thinking about it, I let my bathing suit dry in my room overnight as I slept. This morning, I woke up feeling nauseous, like I might throw up. I haven't yet, but upon showering and coming back into my room, I realized it smelled heavily like chlorine. I have since opened my window and put my bathing suit in the bathroom but is it possible that I could have gotten very mild chlorine poisoning or the start of it? Or would it be something else?
I also had a couple stabbing feelings to my right side of my abdomen over where my leg connects to my torso but I don't think that and the nausea are connected.
I'm 21 years old, Female, slightly underweight for my height (5'4 1/2'', 105 lbs) and I'm on tricera low for BC as well as bupropion XL 300 mg for mood stabilizers.

Thank you!

Brief Answer:
I think you have a mild chlorine poisoning or chlorine allergy.

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear
Understand your concern
As you have abdominal pain, nausea suggests mild chlorine poisoning
It may be associated with respiratory symptoms like throat pain and swelling of throat, burning in the mouth.
But respiratory symptoms occur in severe poisoning.
So I suspect there is mild poisoning or starting of poisoning after the bathing in the swimming pool.
For confirmation of diagnosis go to the emergency physician and go for investigations like chest x-ray and bronchscopy to examine the respiratory tract.
Doctor will give active charcoal, Analgesic for the pain. Parentral ondensaterone to reduce the nausea. Intravenous fluid can be given for maintaining the hydration and help in clear of chlorine from circulation.

Hope I give your answer and this will help you. Fell free to ask.
Thanks and regards
