What Causes A Small Oval Shaped Lump On The Calf Muscle?

default
Posted on Tue, 3 May 2016
Question: i have a lump on my calf musle just off center of my shin bone. it is the shape of a small egg. Over 4 weeks ago I fell and that area showed a very light bruising. I was very surprised to see the egg shape. It has not hurt even when proded. I had an ultra sooound done today. When I peeked at the monitor I saw a dark black shape, like the egg shape. NB By egg shape I mean oval shape under the skin.

Brief Answer:
Hematoma or fibrosis likely.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.
The lump under the skin of the calf that appeared after an injury can be due to a hemtoma or fibrosis in the area. It is likely to be a benign mass. Such masses usually regress on their own and may need a surgical removal in case these are painful.
I hope this answers your query.
