What Causes A Lump Formation After Bruising From Hip To Knee?

default
Posted on Mon, 2 Jun 2014
Question: I had a ladder go out from under me and I fell to the ground (5-6') landing on my tape measure that was in my pocket. Bruise developed from hip to knee & slightly beyond. Bruise is getting better but I have a lump where the tape measure pressed into the muscle area just below the hip.

Brief Answer:
Lump might be due to haematoma formation.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for your query.

From description it seems to be soft tissue injury . Lump might be due to haematoma formation(collection of blood).
I suggest you to consult an orthopaedician nearby for a detailed examination. You may get the X-ray of the area affected under his/her guidance.Beside icing and elevating it, you can take anti-inflammatory drug like motrin to reduce pain and inflammation. Avoid putting weight and rest well.

I do hope that you have found something helpful and I will be glad to answer any further query.

Take care
