What Causes A Hard Bump On The Finger Joint?

default
Posted on Mon, 15 May 2017
Question: Hi,
I have a hard bump in the bottom part of my pinky. It was originally a bit itch and have had it for about a month.
I cannot move my pinky back and forth now and it is completely stiff...and the stiffness is spreading in my hand.
I am an otherwise healthy 60 year old female.
What type of a doctor should I see nad what does it sound like?

Brief Answer:
Sound like arthritis. See a rheumatologist!

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thanks for reaching out to us.

I have reviewed your information fully. This sounds like arthritis. This often occurs with aging and tends to make the joints stiff, limiting the range of movement. The best physician to see is a rheumatologist. He will start with a physical exam and maybe request an x-ray if more evidence is required. I encourage you to mobilise these joints as many times as possible while waiting on your appointment so as to avoid it further becoming stiffer.

I hope this helps. I wish you well. Feel free to follow up with me if need be.
