Question: My wife is having health issues that have manifested themselves over the past 10 days. They are as follows: severe GI issues which she believed to be related to some form of food poisoning. Secondary issues are slightly swollen ankles and elevated heart rate (85 - 95). Blood pressure is in range of 110/64. She is also very weak.

Needs workup and management accordingly

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for asking

I read your question and i understand your concern. Sever Gi discomfort issues if acute can be considered for food poisoning. At age of 67 bowel functions decline and such episodes are very frequent and common to happen and just need supporitve care with rehydration, soft diet , BRAT diet, herbal tea, pomegranate juices, yogurt and peppermints etc. Slightly swollen ankles however needs assessment as it could be edema due to local causes like sedentary lifestyle, dependant edema or attributed to some systemic pathology like fried kidney function or reduced heart pumping.
As far as heart rate is concerned, 60 to 100 is normal range so that is ok however i would still advise echo to rule out congestive heart failure as that could present with swollen ankles too.

I hope it helps. Take good care of her and yourself and dont forget to close the discussion please.

Khan
