Question: Dear dr.. i am 34 male ..and i have undergone psychiatric treatment for hypocondriasis 3 times.. first time in my 20s fear of occurance of stomach cancer and secnd time i feared about happening brain stock.. both time i visited a psychiartist and he diagnosed i hav HYPOCONDRIA, and prescribed venlafaxine xr 75 mg per day both time. And i got 100 percnt remission too
Last anxiety attack is in my 32 age and nw i feared about the occcurance or onset of schizophrenia.. then my same psychiartist told me tht u have no schizophrenia diagnozing symptoms and i knw u from the last 10 yr and u have above the normal age critetia of scizophrenia onset.and he again prescrbd venlafaxine xr 75 mg. aftr that i got 90 percnt remission and the last 3 month before my psychiartist reduced the dose to 37.5 ... then anw my anxiety increased again .. i am alittle bit restless too nw.. a lot of irrational doubts tok arises. This is my history.

sir nw my doubt related to pedophillia.. cz one week before police arrestd a pedophillic person near to my home.. then onwards i have feared about about pedophillia..
My fear is can i have any chance to become a pedophillic in future? And i need to clear i hve no pedophillic impulses in my mind.. for that here i trustfully disclose my feeling as points below for analysing me by u

2 I have no sexual arouses when i see kids and mingling with them.. rarely only i mingle wt kids
3 my sexual desire fuly interestd on opposite sex sply ladies
4 i never see or i hvnt no impulses towards kids and old ladies in my life
5 after venlafazine med i think my sexual interest has to declined lityle bit.. so i bhave a below average sex drive i felt
6 i have no and never any spl attraction on kids in my life.i am thinking my niece as my daughters
7 i never watch any kids near to my home..
8 my sex interest only to young beautiful ladies
9 i have to seen normal porn videos bt i hate pedophillic videos... i never seen
10 i never have any sexual activity wt any kids in my life... like intensionly touchin...no one

I have read your query in detail. You have explained yourself that there are no pedophillic ideas in your mind. You are a perfectly normal person with normal sexual intention towards adult woman. You never had any ideas or impulse that are sexually abnormal. Still you have fear that you will become a pervert or you will have loss of social status due to that.

You are a known case of hypochondriasis and improved successfully both time with Venlafaxine.

To some extent there is fear of illness due to your susceptibility of having hypochondriasis, but you are also not able to control your thoughts. You are compelled to think repugnant or opposite to what is your normal thinking. This is the cause of your distress and hypochondriac ideas. To some extent there are some obsessive compulsive ideas.

Venlafaxine is good antidepressant but in some disorders like OCD or in hypochondriasis treatment with stronger drugs is needed. SSRIs as Fluoxetine, Paroxetine or Fluvoxamine etc are used in high doses to see effect. Fear of illness or health anxiety and distressing thoughts are the main issues. These medicines will help in recovery.

Apart from that proper relaxation and assertive training will help to build confidence. Consult your psychiatrist for detailed treatment.

Sir.. pls explain pedophillia emegring age... and already adult attractve man like me have any chance for new onset pedophillia..

Its better to discuss with him about changing the drugs to some SSRI group. These drugs will control your repugnant (unacceptable) thoughts.

Pedophilia traits (or of any sexual pervsersion) usually got fixated before puberty. More specifically in 3-5 years of age the individuals start showing the features and during age of puberty they start showing full-blown features. As you have crossed the age long time ago so this also proves that there is no risk.

No obsessions are unacceptable ideas. Your mind tend to think oppositely and they never progress to pedophilia. So no risk at all.

I can assure you that there is no chance of pedophilia in you. There is no reason to fear.

I am not saying that you have full blown OCD but obsessions are there. OCD or obsessions can be controlled easily. With drug therapy your obsessive thoughts about fear of illness, and hypochondriasis will remit.

So be assured you are not having any risk of this illness.
