What Are The Symptoms Of Scoliosis?

default
Posted on Thu, 9 Apr 2015
Question: Hi Doctor, 6 days back i had severe back ache so much so that i couldnt even get out of bed. I went to couple of doctors, one doc told me it is Scoliosis and is present from birth. Other doc who is a spine surgeon it is not Scoliosis and it is List. And they told me that the cause of pain was due to the nerve being scratched by the disc. Please find the x-ray attached. The pain diminished from 2nd day till yesterday, when it all started again. Iam unable to walk or sit for long time. And when i get up in the morning, the pain at the lower back is very severe. What is the exact cause?/ Is it the Nerve scratching?

Brief Answer:
Nerve root compression can be confirmed on MRI so I will advise you MRI LS

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

I have studied your case with diligence and seen your x ray.

There is obvious loss of lordosis and scoliosis.
But scoliosis may not always lead to pain.

Nerve root compression can be confirmed on MRI so I will advise you MRI LS SPINE WITH SI [sacro-iliac joint] screening.

Ankylosing spondylitis is common cause leading to squaring of vertebrae.
Ankylosing spondylitis typically involve spine and hips with other large joint also. There is reduced chest function in this disease. Stiffness in spine and hip is increased.
I will also advise you blood test like HLA-B27, ESR, and CRP.

Till further investigation continue your medication.
