What Are The Signs And Symptoms Of Shingles?
Considerations
Detailed Answer:
hello and thank you for sending the question.
If the pain is related to a possible shingles outbreak your doctor can possibly provide you with medication to alleviate the pain directly. There are a couple of different medications which might be helpful for this. Sometimes we use gabapentin which helps to alleviate pain related to inflammation of the nerves. This would be a prescription medication.
If the pain is severe your doctor might consider prescribing a narcotic pain medication such as hydrocodone. I would suggest that you contactyour doctor to discuss the severity of your symptoms so that you can start some level of treatment to get the symptoms under control.
If your symptoms persist and there's no obvious explanation I would suggest you return to your doctor for consideration of imaging studies especially if there's no obvious rash.
Thanks again for sending your question.
Sincerely,

Detailed Answer:
thanks for the additional question.
What you are referring to is sometimes referred to as shingles without rash. This is generally treated with a course of antiviral medication. This is something you can obtain from your primary care provider. Regarding the pain I would consider gabapentin or some type of narcotic pain medication if the pain is severe.
Thank you again for sending your question.
