What Are The Side Effects Of Trazodone?

default
Posted on Wed, 23 Nov 2016
Question: I take Tranzodone. I was concerned that I have been experiencing an increasing side-effecst. I did not know what the side-effects were, so when refiling another prescription (generic Ambien), I asked the pharmist. she suggested possible low sodium and calling my doctor, so gave me a printout. The memory problems has become an increasing problem and is the most severe, although I have been also having trouble focusing and confusion as well. The headaches especially. I take 100mg tabs, but I cut them in half, so 50mg per night. I take other medications as well including the generic version of Ambien (10mg). The Tranzodone works like a charm for insomnia. The printout indicates the need to call my doctor right away, but I cannot reach her. I have an appointment next week. I don't think I am in any type of danger and urgent care costs money that I don't have (insurance would find a way to not pay for it anyway), besides, I don't think that this is that type of problem. I am 38, a recovering alcoholic (2 years sober), overweight (but not obese), and an insomniac (last two seem to be a side-effect of stopping drinking) and get migraines.

Brief Answer:
Consultation

Detailed Answer:
Hello, and thanks for your question.

From what you describe, it would be safe to wait until you can make a regular appointment with your doctor. I do not believe this constitutes an emergency situation. You may want to consider stopping taking the Ambien completely, as it is more likely to be causing the problem than trazodone is. But for now, I think things are safe.
