What Are The Repercussions Of Accidental Ingestion Of Concentrated Disinfectant?

Posted on Thu, 14 Jul 2016
Question: I accidently drank a small amount of a concentrated disinfectant. I ate it with ice cream on accident. The label says it can cause burns to digestive tract. it has a pH balance of 12.4-13.4 should I be concerned about future problems? or would the digestive tract burns come from larger amounts. I probably had less than an ounce and was diluted in the ice cream. Heres the safety facts http://YYYYY.com/docs/msds-lemon-eng.pdf

Brief Answer:
dont worry

Detailed Answer:
Hi and welcome.
Small amount, especially if diluted with other drinks or food, wont cause any acute or chronic damage to esophagus or stomach so you dont need to be worried. You may feel a bit nausea or cramps but it should pass. If you feel however, strong burning in chest or vomiting, you should see doctor but if this didnt happen right after indigestion then we dont expect it at all. Wish you good health. Regards

Hello,
Thank you! but it's okay even if it was drank at its concentrated (it is supposed to be diluted at 1 oz per gallon and we were using it as concentrated on accident). did you read the safety?
Thanks again.

Brief Answer:
yes

Detailed Answer:
Yes I did. As I said, there should not be consequences if you feel fine and if you had taken small amount with other food or drink.
