Brief Answer:
Periods usually are back to normal.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thanks for writing to us.

Since Paragard does not contain any hormones, it does not affect the menstrual cycles. Heavy bleeding while the device is insitu is mostly due to the increased endometrial surface and lessened uterine contraction.

Once the device is removed, you can expect not so heavy periods. Meanwhile, please correct your anemia for general health and also if you wish to plan for children immediately after the removal of the IUD.

Hope your query has been answered. Please feel free to contact for further clarifications. I will be happy to help.

regards,
Shanti.V.
