Brief Answer:
HSV2 is transmitted by kissing or touching genital

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXX,
Thanks for writing in to us.

I have read through your query in detail.
Herpes (genital) is caused by HSV2 virus and is a highly infective condition. It is easily spread by close contact like kissing and touching genitals. Therefore there is a very high chance of HSV2 infection being transmitted from your partner even if you both did not have intercourse.

Please consult your doctor and get tested appropriately for HSV2 infective state. Follow up with your doctors in the event of any genital or oral skin eruptions.

Hope your query is answered.
Do write back if you have any further doubts.

I did not kiss her genitals she kissed mine. I touched hers with a toy. Also she only has hsv2 on her genitals. I took a blood test it came back negative. I just want to get a second opinion so there is still a possibility that I have it?

Brief Answer:
HSV 2 is highly infective

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXX,
Thanks for writing back with an update.

HSV 2 may get transmitted even by close skin contact like intimate touching. Not all people show symptoms of HSV 2 soon after getting infected. Some people may remain in a quiet or dormant state for long durations to reappear again.

You may have to wait for HSV 2 manifestations and then get tested in case you become symptomatic.

In conclusion, what I mean to opine is that there is a chance of you contracting HSV 2 from your partner since she is confirmed to be infected.

Hope your query is answered.

Brief Answer:
Its a matter of chance and you might get lucky

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXX,
Thanks for writing back with an update.

I do not say that its guaranteed that you have HSV 2 infection but there is a chance that you may have got it. However the transmission from penis to vagina or rectum is the highest and therefore you may be one of the lucky ones not to have contracted the infection.

When we talk of disease transmission its not that everyone who indulges in risky behavior gets the disease. There are disease transmission rates for each condition. For uninfected men, the risk of sexually acquiring HSV-2 from an infected woman is about 4 percent per year.

Hope your query is answered.
