Posted on Tue, 1 Sep 2015
Question: What are the odds of transmitting cervical hpv (i had low grade cervical dysplasia 4 years ago...the colposcopy came back normal and 3 paps since have been normal), if someone performa oral sex on me).

Also, what are the odds of contracting genital Hpv by performing oral sex on someone?

Brief Answer:
Low chances of less than 1%

Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXXXXX thanks for trusting health care magic.
There are very less chances of transmission of HPV via oral sex to the tube of less than 1% per oral sex activity but in case the partner has caries of tooth or any inflammation in mouth due to simple sore throat or tonsillitis and even if has cracked lips, chances increase many fold and can be 5-10%
Chances are much higher if partner has immunodeficiency due to any reason so it cannot be quantified.
But since you have had normal pap smear tests and a normal colposcopy chances of transmission are low only.
