default
Posted on Tue, 28 Oct 2014
Question: I inserted my finger in the vagina of a woman and did fingering to satisfy her, I used my two middle fingers for that. In my thumb there was a scratch due to washing of cloths around 2 hours before, and this scratch was near nail in the upper part of skin. Is there any chance of getting HIV infection.

Brief Answer:
Almost nil chances if there was no bleeding injury

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX,
Thanks for writing in to us.

I have read through your query in detail.
As you have only inserted two fingers in to the vagina, there risk of HIV transmission through the act is very low, about less than 1 per 10000. Therefore it is most likely that you do not have HIV.

It is important to know if you had a bleeding injury when washing clothes or it was just a scratch. Without any active bleeding, the chances of HIV infection are almost nil.

Hope your query is answered.

there was no active bleeding at all it was just like a scratch because i had washed clothes two 2-2.5 hour before, also it was on upper part and i remember it was never in full contact with vaginal liquid. can HIV pass through such scratch which has healed for such a long time. And what confirmatory tests should be done and after what time interval of the act?

Hi XXXX,
Thanks for writing back with an update.

Your chances of getting HIV from above incident is almost nil

In the early stages after two weeks, the PCR RNA test is recommended to check the presence of actual viral particles and this test is 99.89 percent accurate. Whatever be the result of PCR RNA, the person is advised to take another test after 3 months, this is done by ELISA or ELFA method and checks for antibodies. If this is also negative then the test can be repeated again after 6 months to confirm that the person is not infected.

Actually I am in anxiety still because I can see a puncture like point in the scratch which is not very deep but reddish and this scratch is because of washing the clothes only, so I want to know if her vaginal fluid have come in contact in this area any how that I am not able to remember, while my fingers were inside her vagina, is there any possibility of HIV infection? How much self-healing of skin might have taken in around 2-2.5 hours to protect from infection? Should I go for test? Please give me a detail answer.

Hi XXXX,
Thanks for writing back with an update.

The chances of getting HIV from above incident is almost nil as discussed earlier. You cannot judge healing in 2 - 2.5 hours.

It is almost sure that the chances f infection with HIV are negligible. I suggest you go for routine screening for HIV after 3 months and again after 6 months for peace of mind.

Hope your query is answered.
