What Are The Chances Of HIV Transmission Through Protected Intercourse?

default
Posted on Mon, 10 Nov 2014
Question: Hello doctor,
This is just like any other case to you. I really need some help and guidance. So please do not ignore this post. So this is what happened:
I had been to a massage parlour in Banglore (India) on oct 6th 2014 for a normal massage and the masseuse had asked me if I want to have sex . I din't know how to react and instantly accepted after the massage ... She just got my penis hard and put a condom on my penis. Then she got on top of me and we started to have sex. I am unaware about her HIV/STD Status . It was for 3-5mins XXXXXXX I have never been in a situation like this ever. I have never had sex with a prostitute. So once it was done , I got up and removed the condom , the condom looked intact. While removing the condom some of her vaginal fluid on the condom made contact with my penis head.. I quickly wiped it with a tissue paper and I put on my clothes. I washed my penis with water after 10-15 mins. It's been 5 days now and I am feaking out . I am not even able to speak about this to anyone. I seem alright now.. No head aches / nausea/fever/throat pain. I am just feeling a little weak and I have a feeling that one of my testical is slightly swollen. What are the chances that I might have got HIV or any other STD ? I have had one girlfriend and I have had sex with her with protection at all times. I am 100%sure that I was clean till this incident.

Please help me out doctor! I am looking forward to your reply! :)

I want to rule out all my doubts, please tell me what tests that I should take in order to rule out all my doubts and clear my head.
I also took a hiv1/2 , vdrl , hbv rna pcr, western blot, urin routine test on the 8th day past exposure. Hiv1/2 and vdrl is negative. Please help doctor
Thank you!

Brief Answer:
no risk of HIV.

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thank you for query. I am Dr Bharatesh D Basti answering your query.
I have gone through the details.
As it is protected inter course the chances of HIV transmission is nil and other STDs also nil
So you can allay fears of HIV even if she is positive. some contact with fluid washed away so no problem. You are not at risk of STDs also.
The tests are too early to come to conclusion.
You can go for HIV RNA pcr after 12 days of exposure if you are anxious to rule out HIV. otherwise no need. forget episode.
You relax and do meditation exercises yoga etc.get involved in activities you like.
You can get back for any clarification

Hi doctor,
But when the vaginal fluid came in contact it took me a 10 seconds to wipe it with a tissue, it might have touched the tip of the penis and I washed it only after 10mins.

When andWhat test should I take to get a conclusive result that i don't have hiv and any other std's? Today is the 10th day past exposure. Please guide me doc. Il take the test and move on with my life . Thanks for your support!

HIV RNA PCR

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thank you for follow up query.

Chances of HIV transmission by this mode is almost nil. You can totally allay fears of HIV.
You can go for HIV RNA PCR to relieve your anxiety which can come positive as early as 4 days if infected.

Other std's you need not bother if no symptoms.

Hello doctor,
So i am planning to take a hiv pcr test on the 25th day after exposure. If that is negative , i will not be needing any other tests right? Can i forget about it and move in in life? Is it 100% conclusive in my case?

How much will the pcr test cost and when will i get the results once the blood is given for testing ?
Thanks for all the support!
