Question: I am looking for side effects of high doses of Ibuprofen prescribed ?

I have a back problem that I take Vicodin for as well as Ibuprofen. My spine and pain doctor is dialing back my Xanax due to a new ruling by CDC. In anticipation of their cutting me off my medication if I cant dial my Xanax back which is proving difficult I am taking the Ibuprofen that was prescribed. I also am S/P a traumatic brain injury.

The important side effects of Ibuprofen include:
-Allergic reaction
-Upset stomach, gastritis
-Kidney failure
-increased risk for bleeding
-Increased risk for heart attack and stroke
-ringing in ears (tinnitus).

As you can see there are serious side effects of ibuprofen, especially when taken long-term at high doses. So try to be on the lowest possible dose that effectively treats your pain. And try taking week long 'holiday' periods from ibuprofen. You can switch to acetaminophen (Tylenol) during the holiday week to reduce side effects.
Taking Zantac 150 mg thrice daily while on Ibuprofen will reduce the occurrence of the upset stomach. Also, take ibuprofen after meals only.
