Question: I knocked a rather heavy object off of a shelf above me and it hit just under my eye on the cheek bone. It caused a small cut and bruised immediately. Am I at risk for a concussion?

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Welcome again to HealthcareMagic.

The risk of concussion depends upon the presence of following symptoms-

1- any loss of consciousness following the accident of more than five minutes.
2- any giddiness, seizure, nausea or vomiting
3- any ear or nose bleed.

If answers to any of the above is yes, then risk is there and you need a ct brain.

If you didn't had any of these then no need to worry.

I didn't know what part of the head could be injured to cause a concussion. I guess the cheek bone is included. Fortunately, I was only dizzy for a few minutes and then I seemed fine. Thank you.

Brief Answer:
you are fine, don't worry

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Any part of head and face trauma can cause concussion injury. It all depends upon the severity of trauma and the direction of force.

As you were dizzy for a few mins only and nothing else, then you need not worry about it.
