Colorectal surgery was done by a greedy dr on 31 dec, 2012. He removed 24" of healthy for a "prolapse" and later said PT could have helped..Discharged me w/o changing bandages; infections, packed, hernia (8.3cm) repair on 8 July, 2013 with mesh covering good amt of abdomen. The bowel going through transverse and descending very painful; after colonoscopy this awareness began; now when I evacuate, pain is extreme. After hernia repair I could not wear anything binding as my breathing is restricted. Focus has been on inside of colon, not between intestines where I have pain and something feels loose. He capped colon and cut hole in side of rectum securing mesh to sacral plexus. I have had problems I've never had before and no dr wants to address. By the way, is there any concrete reason why i had excruciating pain during manometry test and defecating proctogram? It took two days for nerves to settle. Dr told me surgery would help back pain which I had after MVA. Now there is nobody who can attempt to figure out pain. Injections caused more problems and, surgery delayed attention to back. Otherwise I am very healthy. I will try to send reort but hernia repair report is on CD. After repair I had bigger issues w/evacuating; bowel movement is very large around. Does this help? Time is limited when seeing a dr and three said no dr wants to mess w/fixing. So, a healthy, happy person now is home bound. I'm gun shy - and pain at sacrum area is excruciating. I've learned much on this site, but, doesn't help get my foot in the door. Thank you.

I left the hospital with the infection. I was lying in a mess, told him, however, he didn't get a nurse so I cleaned and showered by myself. Unfortunately, I'm not one to ask for help.

Brief Answer:
Hot Seitz bath will be helpful

Detailed Answer:
Dear Ms

The excruciating pain while manometry is likely to be due to internal sphincter spasm usually associated with long standing constipation following colorectal surgery.

I would suggest you the following

1. Hot Seitz bath : To a tub of lukewarm water add 2 spoons of antiseptic solution. Sit in it for 15 to 20 minutes each session twice a day.

2. Plenty of Oral fluids : 2 to 3 liter a day

3. High fiber diet : 2 servings of vegetable salad and 2 servings of fruits especially citrus fruit will ensure adequate intake of fiber

The warmthnes of water should help relax muscle and relieve pain. Majority of Surgeon would not intervene or do any other surgical procedure. The above advise should be helpful to certain extent in relieving your symptoms. Do send me rest of report if available.

Wishing you and your family a very happy and healthy life.

Take care
