Suggest Ways To Speed Up The Healing Process Of Breast Abscess

Question: I have been detected with breast abscess due to infection caused by cuts in nipples after 1 month of delivery. I&D was done on 11.12.2014. Pus of 20 ml ws drained.Till date the surgical wound have not been healed. Daily wound dressing are being done but due to feed overflow at the area the dressing always becumes wet. Could this be the reason for slow healing? Can stoping milk supply by taking tab capgolin will help in healing the wound quickly? Wat is the side effects of this tablet. Wat could be done to speed up healing?

Will taking capgolin will stop the breastfeed forever considering I may plan second baby after couple of years. Also can I start the feed after healing of this wound to give feed to my baby? How long generaly this kinda wound heal.

This tablet will stop breast milk slowly after about 15 days.

This wont affect next pregnancy. You can feed after next delivery.

Such incisions take about a month to heal.

You may not be able to restart feeding aftrt wound healing as milk would have dried up.

I have been advised to take 2 tablet of capgolin 0.5mg at one go in order to stop feed next day and if any feed comes I have to express that. My concern is that I will not be able to express from the affected breast due to bandage. If I will not express fully, will the milk solidify in breast and may harm in future?

Express as much as possible from the site which does not have wound.

This will drain more than 50 percent of milk. Remaining milk wont solidify. It will come in next expression.

So there is no question of solidification. Do no harm in future

Hello mam
I have taken cabergolin 0.5mg two tablet on 2nd if this month after about 7 days the milk supply started decrease. Initially the colour of milk becomes light then watery. I have expressed it with pump. But now the milk have again started coming. I am worried as still my wound had not healed and I am not giving my feed to baby too. Expressing this milk daily would be difficult task. Why the milk is coming again? Should I again take the tablet?

I have visited my doctor today she said cabergolin too frequent I would not advised instead she gave tablet Blong for five days, twice a day. Now my question is if I take cabergolin does it will have any side effect? If No, then please advise the dosage? Earlier on 2nd XXXXXXX I have just taken two tablet of cabergolin 0.5 mg together.
One more thing I would like to bring to your notice that I was expressing milk little bit after taking tablet also the nurse who is dressing my wound. Is it because of this expressing milk, feed have not stopped?

Blong is equally effective. Since your breast milk started again your doctor thought to change medications. So you can take Blong. Even cabergolin is same. Expressing excess milk is necessary as if it collects it further delays wound healing

When I had taken cabergolin earlier I had expressed milk. My doctor had told because of this milk supply had not stopped. As milk generated on demand basis. Now she had told me not to express on taking Blong tablet. If I do not express can the milk solifify and hardened.? If I do express the milk supply will not stop. I am confused wat to do?

You are right. Not expressing milk will solidity it and lead to delayed healing.

What you can do is express little if it starts to ooze. Dont express with force if not oozing.

Please keep expressing when ever it starts oozing and this will reduce oozing frequency.
