Hi. The first thing to do for you would be to visit a dermatologist and request him for biopsy for leprosy. Your history is very classical. Stop applying anything to the lesion.

Brief Answer: eczema and leprsosy should be ruled out Detailed Answer: Hi XXXXXXX Thanks for writing to us. From the description provided,I could think of two possibilities 1) eczematous patch/ lichen simplex chronicus- it is characterised by a dry itchy thick scaly patch and due to continous scratching the area may have loss of hair and change in color 2) leprosy- a chronic bacterial infection that may lead to development of scaly hypopigmented/whitish patch with decreased sensation/loss of sensation to touch, temperature and pain along with loss of hair. It usually does not itch Now these two conditions can be ruled out by clinically examining the lesions and performing certain tests if required like checking the sensation, looking for enlarged nerves in vicinity of lesions and doing a slit skin smear test to see bacteria microscopically. If its eczema, a steroid cream like clobetasol along with moisturisers will be required. If its leprosy, medicines like rifampicin, clofazimine and dapsone will be prescribed for a period of 6 months to an year depending upon the type of leprosy. My advise would be to meet a qualified dermatologist for proper evaluation, treatment and follow up. Hope this helped. Take care
