Question: I have been diagnosed with peripheral neuropathy characterised by tingling and burning in the soles of the feet, swollen feet and numbness in the balls of the feet and toes , also the lower legs. Two months ago I fell while tramping and gashed the back of my right leg badly but didn't feel a thing and indeed didn't discover it for several days since when it has formed an ulcer which hasn't healed. I finally showed it to my gp who has recommended having it dressed every two days. Both she and the neurologist whom I consulted say there is no treatment for neuropathy.
Brief Answer:
need more details.
Detailed Answer:
Dear Friend.
Welcome to HCM. I have read your query in detail. I understand your concern.
Treatment of peripheral neuropathy is based on it's cause.
With the available details I can figure one thing only that can cause peripheral neuropathy and that is your chemotherapy.
I need to know following details to help you better:
1. Since when are you having it?
2. Started simultaneously in both lower limbs or first started in one leg?
3. Any motor weakness ? Means do you have slipping of slippers on walking? If yes do you come to know about that or not?
4. Any history of diabetes?
5. List of drugs you have taking? Please find your old records and mention which chemotherapeutic agent was used? Did you take any medication like Metrogyl / Flagyl for long duration ever?
6. Tell me all your past history even if you find it insignificant.
7. Any white patch or rash on body?
8. Any joint pains, redning of eyes , oral ulcers.
Reply with these details preferably point wise.
Stay healthy.
