Suggest Treatment For Vaginal Itch And Bumps On Labia

Question: Hello,

I recently had a problem with itching on my labia that did not respond to cannesten or boric acid suppositories. My GP put me on a two week course of gyno-daktarin cream which reduced the majority of the itching and all of the swelling. However, as the swelling subsided I noticed a number of hard lumps on my labia (major). these lumps are not painful but do itch if they are caught or touched. The majority of the lumps are in places where I cannot easily see them but one that I have been able to examine appears to have a black centre under the skin. Please can you advise me as to what these might be.
I am not sexually active.

Brief Answer:
Can be fungal infection of hair roots.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for trusting us with your health concern.
The lumps on the labia that you have noticed can be due to folliculitis- may be due to a fungal infection of the hair roots. In case the itching or the lumps persist then you will need oral antifungal medicines like itraconazole for complete treatment. Do get it examined by your gynecologist so that she can prescribe you if it is needed.
Please feel free to discuss further. I will be glad to answer the follow up queries that you have.
Wishing you good health.

Thank you for your advice. I apologise but I neglected to mention that these lumps are on the inside of my labia and therefore are not located where there is usually hair. Does this mean that it cannot be infected follicles as you have suggested? If so, do you know what it can be? Thank you

Brief Answer:
Can be blocked glands.

Detailed Answer:
Hello.
Thanks for writing again.
If it is on the inner side of labia then it can be due to blocked glands in the area. In case it is painful, you will need oral anti fungal agents then. If these are painless then wait and see if it subsides on its own.
Hope my answer is helpful.
