Question: cOULD NOT SLEEP AFTER MIDNIGHT. FUNCTION AND BACTERIAL INFECTION OF MY WIFE'S (71 F) URINARY TRACT, LOCAL DOCTOR HAS PRESCRIBED VERTIN 8 MG. IS THAT OK?

I am Dr. Prakash HM and I will be answering your query.

Based on your query, my opinion is as follows:

1. Vertin is prescribed for vertigo or dizziness.

2. It is not useful in urinary tract infection. For urinary tract infection levofloxacin or nitrofurantoin will be useful.

3. Also she will require, good hydration (atleast 6-7 liters of water per day) until infection subsides. Cranberry or blue berry juice will be useful.

You will require prescription for medication.
