Suggest Treatment For Toothache During Pregnancy
Question: I m 28 weeks pregnant. I have toothache since morning. Want to know if i should consult a dentist for treatment? Also , we have enzoflam tablet at home which is used by fsmily members in case they have toothache. Is this tablet safe for me right now?

I really appreciate your concern for the safety profile of the medication Enzoflam during late pregnancy.
Enzoflam medication consists of two drugs Diclofenac and Paracetamol.
It is not possible to say that any medicine is absolutely safe to use in pregnancy, there is currently no good evidence that Paracetamol will harm your baby.
However, there are serious concerns about safety of Diclofenac and other pain killers.
Diclofenac & other nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) like Ibuprofen, Celecoxib, Naproxen, etc should be avoided in late pregnancy as their use is associated with increased risk of prepartum and postpartum haemorrhage.
They may also cause premature closure of the fetal ductus arteriosus (a congenital heart disease) and delay the labour and birth.
In view of the above explanation, Paracetamol is the analgesic of choice in pregnancy.

Since you are already in 28 weeks of pregnancy, I would suggest you to take Paracetamol tablet for the symptomatic relief of pain instead of Enzoflam, you may continue to use the Rexidin M Forte gel as it acts more locally in the oral cavity without being absorbed into the blood circulation.

Just consulted another dentist who asked me to take Wymox500 (amoxycillin caps) with crocin (regular) thrice a day for 5 days to kill the bacterial infection. Are these medicines ok?
