Hello,
Thanks for the query.
I have read your query and understand your concern.
Very frankly speaking there can be various causes for tinnitus and most likely cause at your age could be normal age related.
High blood pressure as well as diuretics to treat it can also cause tinnitus.
Other reasons could be age related changes in ear bones, some head and neck tumour, blood vessel malformation, carotid artery kinking etc.
You must consult an ENT specialist and get investigated to find the cause.
Treatment of underlying cause can bring benefits to you.
I hope it helps, however you are most welcome to revert o me for any further query.
Best of luck
Thanks

Thank you Dr XXXXXXX for for your reply.Your response is very helpful. One of the blood pressure medication that I am taking is Furosemide (Lasix) that is known to cause buzzing or ringing in the ear and hearing loss in some patients.
Are there other diuretic medications with less harmful side effects that you could recommend ?

Hello,
you can use HYDROCHLORTHIAZIDE which is also a diuretic and is supposed to be least ototoxc of all diuretic pills but you should not start using it of your own and must talk to your doctor regarding this before switching the medicine.
Thanks
