Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome to health care magic,

I am Dr Sriram Nathan an ENT surgeon and I will try to help you out with your problem.

I would first like to assure you that this is not a very serous issue and you do not have to worry much.

Since you have mentioned minimal fluid in the air cells I would assume that you have the diagnosis already and the problem is only minimal.

In any case if the fluid is minimal then you have nothing to worry about as it will get absorbed by the body during the healing process in a week or two.

You should also know that tinnitus will also get better when the fluid levels go down

Meanwhile you can do these for fastening of the process:
-take steam inhalation with menthol or any other vaporizer at least two to three times in a day for a week or two
-Take only warm water for regular use
-Close your nose and mouth and swallow; this is an exercise to relieve Eustachian tube block and do this at least twenty times in a day
-I would generally recommend an antihistamine like levocetrizine for my patients. Your doctor will know about this
-Do not concentrate on the sound and try to ignore it as much as possible.
-Do not worry as this is a common problem and I am sure it will get better if given sufficient time.

Of course if the sound persists even afer a fortnight or it increases then you must get an audiometry testing done (PTA and impedance) and also a CT of the temporal bones and get back to me or any ENT with the reports.

Hope this helps and if you have any more doubts you can get back to me and I will be more than happy to help you out.

get well soon

regards

Thankyou for your prompt answer to my query. The problem with the tinnitus started 2 years ago, and has never got any better. The specialist as well as the audiologist told me at the time that it was something that I must just put up with.
The tinnitus sometimes is unbearable. I have tried the things you suggested, with no results. Surely there is an answer for me?

try other techniques

Detailed Answer:
hello again,

I assumed that the tinnitus is recent problem which you are facing and that has very good prognosis. Unfortunately, long standing tinnitus is very resistant to treatment and there is no absolute cure. However you may try these:
-take a meditation or yoga and try to train your mind to ignore the sound
-concentrate on some other sound when you sleep such as the fan or a clock or a small radio or even the ac.
-Consult a hearing center or a audiologist and get details on the tinnitus masker hearing aids which will definitely help you
-There is a prostaglandin analogue which comes in the trade name of tinnicar or tinnex in XXXXXXX Your doctor will know about these.

Hope this helps but quite frankly the best treatment is a strong mind and your effort

regards
