Suggest Treatment For Symptoms Of Petechiae On Body, Muscle And Joint Soreness

default
Posted on Tue, 15 Sep 2015
Question: Been having what looks like petechiae on my body for the past 2-4weeks, it seems to occur after i scratch my skin, which at times is very itchy, (even after very mild scratching) or when i put pressure on the skin (even very mild pressure) but had a normal CBC (also tested liver and kidney function) 10-14 days ago. Also have mild muscle/join/point soreness. Before that I was having unexplained Neurological symptoms (numbness, tingling, twitching throughout my body), saw a Neurologist and had a clean MRI of the Brain and EMG. Wondering what the cause of the Petechiae could be with normal blood work?

Brief Answer:
Infection, injury, autoimmune disease, drugs or bleeding disorder

Detailed Answer:
Hi, dear
I have gone through your question. I can understand your concern.
You have petechia. It is due to bleeding into skin. It can be due to some infection, autoimmune disease, injury, drugs or bleeding disorder.

You don't have any injury or drug history so you may have other causes. You should go for coagulation profile first to rule out bleeding disorder. Your complete blood count is normal so chances of infection is less likely. You should also go for ana test to rule out autoimmune disease. Consult your doctor and go for investigation. It will give you exact diagnosis. Then you should take treatment accordingly.

Okay I'm going to go back to my general doctor and ask for those tests tomorrow (coagulation profile and an ANA test). Are those generally blood tests that a GP can perform or will he send me somewhere else?
