Medications are the mainstay of treatment

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for using Healthcaremagic.

I read your query and understand your concerns.

Hearing voices which are not present (others can't hear), feeling of watched or followed, feeling that someone trying to listen him which is not possible (beyond the sensory limits such as miles away) are definite signs of paranoid schizophrenia and I am glad to know that you are seeking consultation with psychiatrist.

The main stay of treatment in paranoid schizophrenia is antipsychotics. With the current available options there is high probability that you will have control over voices and abnormal feelings. Although medication take time to act (say 2-4 weeks) but they are worth to take. With continued medication not only person feel better in his symptoms he also gets social integration and occupational placement over the time.

Once the medication started the psychosocial intervention can also be started at the same time or later on to have better understanding in the disease process. Your psychiatrist will discuss all these options including your choice of medication.

To conclude you need to see your psychiatrist as per plan and follow her instructions for treatment of schizophrenia.

I hope this helps you.
If you have more questions feel free to write back to me.
Thanks again.

Should I stay in the apt I'm having these feelings of being spied on and watched. Even with medication? Do you recommend people with schizophrenia live away from people like a house and not an apt or live with supportive family or friends.

I'm laying on my sofa and hear people taking next door which is empty and people walking on my celing. I feel that they have drilled holes into my home and are watching me and listening to me! Its a horrible feeling! Awful

I can hear them taking and making fun of me! Laughing and saying derogatory comments about me is that normal?

I can hear people moving around next door and talking and I feel like they are intensionally harassing me. Like I'm admitting I'm schizophrenic and now they are being loud and dont care if I hear them.. Its so real to me and extreme! On my roof, next door and I can feel the virbration bwcause it's all concrete floors so the sound and vibration is traveling along the cemment floors- these are all concrete. I feel like they will take everything ive said and my valunerable state of mine and use it to harm me!

One last thing, I'm not suicidal at all but fear for my life, if something happens to me Its murder.

Dear XXXX,
Thanks for reverting back to me.

First of all what you described over the last few hours were part of schizophrenia and they need to be treated aggressively. I am glad to know that you are seeing a psychiatrist and he will offer you the best solution possible.

Regarding your questions about living arrangement I like to inform you that living near other people is better option when there are symptoms of schizophrenia. This is because nobody want to harm you and they may offer you the required support in crisis hour.

I hope this answers you further.
