Brief Answer:
Suggestive of EBV infection....

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for your answer.

I have gone through your reports.

1. Your Viral Capsid Ag (VCA) Antibody IgM - is positive which is 1.42 H (>1.10)

2. VCA Ig G - is positive >5.0 H (>1.10)

3. EBV Nucelar Antigen (EBNV) Antibody IgG- is positive which is 1.33 H(>1.10)

All this finding is suggestive of EB virus infection.

There is some written figures on the right side of your scanned (Near to EBV report)report I think it is the value of previous EBV reports.

If it is so then it draws you towards the chronic active EBV infection. Because their value is also raised than of reference range.

Treatment

Majority cases: EBV usually causes a self-limiting infection in 95 % cases doesn't requires any treatment. It usually get cures in 2 to 3 weeks.

Minority of cases: If the infection is chronic one, you should be consulted with nearby Infectious Disease Doctors.

For chronic infection of EBV you should start with the Acyclovir to control viral infection and paracetamol for fever, malaise and fatigue. In some severe cases corticosteroids can be given. Please take above medication under doctors guidance.

Please take care of spleen, as there are some cases of splenic rupture is also reported. Avoid heavy exercise which causes injury to spleen. Also avoid constipation.

Taking close look on blood count is essential as there is chance of hematological malignancy in some cases.

I hope I answered your questions well.

is there any other labs you can take to verify infection

Is it curable? Does it every go away? How long does it take to regain energy?

what all can the ebv infection affect?

Answered by Dr. Arun (3 hours later)
Brief Answer:
it is curable

Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXX,

Other important tests for EBV detection is...

1) Virus detection from the lymphocytes by cell culture

2) Immuno-Fluorescence detection of Anti-EA-D, Anti-EA-R, EBV nuclear antigen.

3) PCR detection of viral DNA.

As I mentioned you earlier it is cured in 95% of cases without treatment and in rest of the persons only immunosuppresive patient wont respond to treatment and becomes the candidate for chronic disease.

So it is curable if you are not a patient of organ transplant, HIV etc.

Yes it can go away without treatment in most patient and only few requires treatment.

with in a week or two you will be recovered once the infection is cured.

EBV can affect many systems of the body which includes Blood, Nervous system, Spleen, Liver, kidney, Lung, Heart. It can cause leukemia, oral hairy leukemia etc.

I hope I answered your query well.

You can ask me for your further query.

Thank you,
