Suggest Treatment For Swollen Lymph Nodes On The Neck

default
Posted on Wed, 1 Feb 2017
Question: After a second visit to my PCP we concluded I have mono. This was decided after my lymph node expanded to the size of a handball at my lower left throat. But from the beginning my groan area has been sore and my nuts ache. Keep in mind I also have a recent L5 disk issue.
Taking antibiotics for the mono, but swelling in my groan area ( crease between my leg and torso) has increased and my nuts ache more than ever. Tonight unbearable. Concerned we have missed something. Please advise.

Brief Answer:
Possible bacterial infection in the testicles or epididimitis

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Thank you for using HCM to post your question.
I read it carefully and I understand your concern.

Mono its not treated with antibiotics, unless what you are taking its Acyclovir which is an antiviral (because mono it's a viral infection).

The pain in the testicles may be an infection, which in general its bacterial. You will need an exam and determine if there is fluid there, or in which part its the infection. According to that you will need to take antibiotics. I think this is unrelated to the mono.

Hope this is helpful.
Let me know if you need more clarifications.
