Question: I have traveled from SC to XXXXXXX by car and toured along the way. My ankles and legs are swelling every day. I am prone to blood clots and take warfarin--8mgs per day.i have taken a diuretic from over the counter for the past few days without stopping the swelling. The weather is very hot. What can I do?

Brief Answer:
Explained

Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome

I appreciate your concern

Based on your description, the predisposition to clot formation can lead to possibility of DVT especially with immobility and travel history. However the only reliable way to confirm the presence of such a DVT would be to do a doppler ultrasound of the lower limbs. For the swelling arround the ankles NSAIDS can be advised such as meloxicam or ibuprofen. Pedal edema should be looked for and cardiac causes plus hypoalbuminemia and renal dysfunction /nephrosis should be ruled out.

please consult your doctor before taking any further course of action

Wishing you best of health

Thanks
