Question: 14 year old son. Sudden and violent vomiting, every 10-15 minutes for four hours now. Gave him Zofran 3 hours ago, which did nothing to ease symptoms. Very thick bile, tinged with blood, never occurred in previous illnesses. Bouts of diarrhea. Low body temp but says he's hot.

Brief Answer:
Rush the child to emergency as the child could be in dehydration and shock.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.

Vomiting along with loose motion in a child indicates gastroenteritis. But low temperature along with profuse loss of water and salts due to vomiting and loose stools could indicate circulatory collapse along or shock. You need to rush the child to a hospital emergency having pediatric facilities. Bile and blood stained vomitus is also not a good sign.

Meanwhile, Zofran (ondansetron) is an effective antiemetic and needs to be given. You may give mouth dissolving tablets of the same as and when required. The mainstay of treatment would be in maintaining proper hydration by giving ORS (oral rehydration solution) prepared by mixing a full XXXXXXX in a litre of plain water. Give it sip by sip and consume the solution entirely within 24 hours.

Hope that helps.
