Brief Answer:
Orthopedic evaluation required

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

I remember talking to you earlier about aching legs and Vitamin D usage in Phuket.

Now I understand that your leg pain has worsened and now there is stiffness of joints in addition.

Let me reassure you that this worsening of pain is not due to Vitamin D supplement you are taking. Vitamin D takes time to act and the process of improvement takes about 3 month for results to show. Tis is beneficial for your bones in the long term.

Since your knees and ankles are stiff, i also consider there could be beginning of arthritic changes of bones. This is commonly seen in your age group and needs to be evaluated by an orthopedic surgeon to see the extent of arthritic changes in the joints.

After examination you might require an X-ray to see the exact involvement. Based on findings orthopedician will give you prescription for pain killers.

Meanwhile you can try getting some pain killers yourself there if available ( I am not sure if they are available over the counter) and see an orthopedician.

Let me know if you need anymore help.

I think the tingling started about four weeks ago. It has been a weird sensation whenever I scratched an itch or something. Now i just have tingles legs and arms.
Not all the time, but a lot. No other meds, but I am a moderately heavy drinker. Don't smoke or do any other drugs but I have 3- 4 drinks most nights and maybe one night heavy drinking.

I have a clean XXXXXXX of health generally, and my family is free of any inherited diseases. I had my blood sugar checked 3 weeks ago just after this started and it was good. My husband is diabetic and every so often he tests me as I am overweight. I am always really good.

Brief Answer:
Allergic tingling and itching

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

This tingling sensation with itching is most likely due to allergic reaction in recent past. This could be due to travelling to a new place, cloth, changing house etc.

I suggest you take Tablet cetrazine 20 mg daily for one week and see if it gives you relief . I am not sure if this drug is available over the counter there or needs a prescription. This should help you.

It is always a little odd here what we can get and what we can't. What they sell over the counter and what they won't. I live in Phuket and have been here for a year now.

Thank you for the suggestion for the possible allergy. Another possibility, could it be fibromyalgia?

Brief Answer:
Unlikely to be fibromyalgia

Detailed Answer:
Hello.

This type fast onset of tingling over a month and itching is unlikely to be caused by fibromyalgia.

This is more likely to be allergic only.

Brief Answer:
Early stages of arthritis appears in this way

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Initial stages of arthritis appear this way without swelling. There will be stiffness and pain in joints.

Hence it is necessary to evaluate this as I mentioned above.

Feel free to ask any query that comes to your mind. I know you have pain due to stiffness of joints and I understand the pain you are suffering. I will be happy to answer your query.

I have not tried to get that medication yet as not sure... and money! I need to check on my health care cover again. But it is not sitting right. I went to the village doctor yesterday. This is sort of a stone age village if you brush of the tourists! He thought maybe oesteoporosis, but i really don't think so.

All that tingling... could that be circulation? And could that cause the aches and stiffness as well?

Dr Pisset has given me a pain killer a muscle rexlant and two types of anti-inflammatory. I have only had three does so far, not a significant difference as yet. The muscle relaxant is Nuosic. The others only have Thai writing.

Brief Answer:
This is not due to circulatory disturbance

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

This is not osteoporosis. This tingling or joint stiffness has nothing to do with circulation.

You can continue these medicines and take rest . Should feel better by next 5 days.
