Question: I am a 74 yo male with stage 3 CKD (GFR54) and very mild cirrhosis, direct bilirubin 1.4. I am scheduled for a virtual colonoscopy and directed to drink 25ml of Isovue Monday, and 25ml the following day. Does that pose a threat to my kidney or mild liver disease?

Brief Answer:
No

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Welcome and thanks for your query.
I understand your apprehension.
Isovue is excreted through the kidneys and renal impairment affects the rate of excretion. Therefore the dose has to be reduced which your doctor would do.
It doesn't harm the kidneys or the liver and there is nothing to worry.
